Solar Lighting

Solar Lights are best known for their use in residential and commercial landscapes. These are great accents for all landscapes and if used correctly can really add warmth, beauty and a quiet elegance. When purchasing solar lights and solar lighting be sure and look for these important features; water proof, rechargeable batteries and quality of construction

Waterproof: This is essential, they must be sealed correctly so that moisture does not get in and corrupt the solar cell, if it does they will not work and well, you have to buy another set. 

Rechargeable batteries: Look carefully on the package and make sure the batteries recharge during the day with solar power. This is the whole point of going solar right?
You want it to look nice and be economical. Solar lights charge during the day and turn on automatically at dusk, no timers to worry about or huge electric bills or wires running all over and under through your landscape etc. So why not take the time and
ask some questions and make sure you get the right rechargeable batteries the first time.

Construction: Well, this is just common sense really. You spent a good amount of money on your landscape, not to mention hard work and design and layout time etc.
So it follows that you look at what you are considering. Quality construction might cost a little more but it will be worth it when you don’t have to replace them in 6 months. Tip: take some pictures of where the lighting is to go (cell phones work great for this) and compare the pictures to products available.

Select a product that will accent your landscape and encourage the subtle aspects to pop when the lights come on. You don’t want to see the same thing at night that you see during the day and vice versa.

Some things to be aware of: lights should be placed in full sun so the batteries can fully charge. If it is cloudy or overcast the lights might not go on if this is a concern, make some inquires as there are some alternatives such as a more complex passive solar set up. Finally, solar lights are a great touch for any landscape, many brands and styles are available, and do your research, you will find that lighting up the night is fun and easy.
